We realize that although you might really like to, you may not be in a position to donate to our Rescue at this time. But, did you know there are several ways to support us that are completely free?

There's a chance that you work for an employer that will match the hours you spend volunteering for a nonprofit by providing donations to your favorite charity. Examples include ExxonMobil, Aetna, Verizon, Microsoft, Entergy MS, Allstate, and many others. Check with your employer to see if your volunteer hours can be matched, and then check out our volunteer page to see how you can volunteer with the Central MS Turtle Rescue!

Unfortunately, Amazon has decided to do away with its Smile program effective February 20, 2023. We are incredibly saddened by this decision as many small nonprofits, including our own, will suffer because of it. Many of us depended on these quarterly donations. Even though they weren't huge contributions, we still relied on them for regular expenses such as purchasing food or supplies or for paying utilities. In an economy where individual donations have plummeted, having one of the the world's richest corporations step away from helping the little guy is quite disheartening.
Donate your unwanted stuff!
We're always in need of various items around the rescue. If you're doing some spring cleaning and have items to get rid of, check with us before throwing them out! We might just need what you don't want!
Below are examples of items we could use. This list isn't all-encompassing, though. Give us a call if you have items you want to donate!
For Spring 2023, here is a list of larger items we could really use.
Below are examples of items we could use. This list isn't all-encompassing, though. Give us a call if you have items you want to donate!
- Building materials
- Medical supplies
- Pet supplies
- Tubs and totes
- Pond supplies
- Gardening and outdoor supplies
- Tools
- Blankets and insulating wraps
- Stock tanks or IBC totes
- Greenhouse supplies
- Fencing
- Livestock/Farm items
- Boats and fishing equipment (nets, etc.)
- Deck boxes or other waterproof outdoor storage
- Portable sheds and/or shed materials
For Spring 2023, here is a list of larger items we could really use.
- Treated lumber - we can use any outdoor, treated lumber, but we would particularly appreciate 4x4's, 2x4's, 1x4's, or deckboards. We plan to start constructing 10-15 new box turtle enclosures during the slower winter months. This will likely cost $2000-$3000 in lumber alone. Any donated lumber would be greatly appreciated.
- A good, used, flat bottom boat, with trailer if possible. One with a motor would be ideal, but these beggars are not choosers. Obviously, this would be for water rescues (turtles caught on trot lines, etc.)
- Sheds and/or deck boxes. Over the years, we've given up our spare bedrooms, bathrooms, closets, and outdoor storage to make way for housing turtles. Now all our tools and supplies have nowhere to go. We could really use some waterproof outdoor storage like small sheds and/or deck boxes.
- Fencing. We're hoping to build a fence around the perimeter of our property to deter unwanted visitors or wayward pets, that we can also electrify to keep predators out. We could use any and all fence boards, posts, electrical wire, chargers, controllers, etc.
Thank You!
